Because all you're doing is burning bridges...It's completely acceptable to strive to further your career, but achieving that through brown nosing and trying to make yourself look good by putting others down or pointing out their flaws will get you nowhere in the long run...all it's going to do is make the person who you're informing or sucking up to think badly about you. Your behavior becomes obvious and everyone is over it just as soon as you've started. You think you're getting somewhere, but you're actually just proving yourself to be a bad team player and no one that anyone wants to bond with or hang out with. One upping people and pointing out others flaws won't help you in the personal arena because really, who wants to have a conversation with someone where the whole conversation is one sided bad mouthing and look at me look at me?
